Aserte Kilte is a ceremony that occurs on the twelfth day of child birth in Eritrea. The nursing mother while carrying her child, steps over fire and adorns the child’s forehead and cheeks with crosses drawn by kohl, to represent her protecting the child from the evils and dangers of this world. The ceremony also marks the child’s first appearance to the general public. The mother and child do not leave the house during the first 12 days of child birth.Find out more about this intriguing tradition here: https://web.facebook.com/watch/?v=623295568852410Via: https://www.instagram.com/moyoafrika/ Spread the love Category: Children Eritrea Women Submitted by: 0:29 About The Author Emmanuel Post a Comment Cancel reply Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
