Bògòlanfini or bogolan (mud cloth) is a Malian cotton fabric that is handmade and traditionally dyed with fermented mud. This fabric has gradually become a symbol of cultural identity for the people of Mali.
Originally, mud cloth is adorn by hunters as ritual protection and as a badge of status. Immediately after childbirth, women get to wrap this cloth around themselves, as there is a believe that it has the power to absorb pain and deflect anything negative or dangerous
