The Durbar (military parade) festival dates back to an era when the northern emirates used horses in warfare. During the parade, riders from different regiments would showcase their horsemanship, their preparedness for war. The parade was also a show of loyalty to the emirate.\

In present day, the Durbar is a festival that celebrates the culmination of the two great Muslim festivals: Id-el Fitri and Id-el Kabir.
