Matatus are minibuses with decorations that feature portraits of famous people or slogans and sayings. These buses play really loud music with the combination of extravagant designs to attract riders. To customize or pimp a matatu, it can cost at least Ksh6.5 million to Ksh10 million. This mode of transportation which is easily the cheapest and most sought after in Kenya doesn’t come without criticisms. The touts and drivers of these Matatus are notorious for disobeying and flaunting traffic rules especially during rush hour in a bid to stay ahead of the competition.
